If you had just one wish.....

Shane Bernier is a courageous seven-year-old boy from Lancaster, Ontario who was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when he was only five. On June 6th, 2006 Shane and his family received some unfortunate news: Shane experienced a relapse after completing 108 of 130 weeks of treatment.

However, despite the bad news, Shane has managed to keep a positive outlook on his situation and has made a heart-warming wish... He hasn’t asked for money or toys or anything of the sort. Instead, his birthday is on May 30th and he would like to break the world record for the most birthday cards ever received. His goal is 350 million cards. With every card, Shane’s courage grows. Something as simple as sending a birthday card could be enough to help Shane find peace and joy in his current circumstances.

Please take the time to send a card to Shane and make his dream become a reality. Share his story with your friends, family and co-workers. If at all possible, get your youth groups, church congregations, employees, neighbours or communities to set aside a few minutes to write a thoughtful note to Shane.

With every card, Shane’s smile grows...

If you’d like to send a card to Shane, please send it to:

Prayers needed for a couple of friends...

Two nurses that I worked with at St. John's have hit some rough times and definitely need prayers....

Deb was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma on March 28, 2007. On April 5th she underwent a double mastectomy and will receive chemotherapy followed by radiation over the next several months. Deb is only 36 and has an adorable one year old, Abby.

Melody has a "fat and sassy" (her words) pituitary tumor that is creeping out into her sphenoid sinus and who knows where else which has caused her to have cushings disease. Melody is the proud mom of 4 girls and lost her husband a couple years back to a massive heart attack. She is an amazing woman and as of today has had successful surgery to remove the tumor. She is recoving in the ICU but is happy to have her sight. (Loss of vision was a possible complication of the surgery)

Please keep these two wonderful moms, nurses and women in your thoughts and prayers.

Mommy's night out

Look how creative mommy was....

Notice how it matches mommy's oven mitts...she did it on purpose!

Peek a Boo...

I love playing peek a boo and hiding behind anything and everything. Mommy caught me playing peek a boo with her while she was on the couch.
Where's Thomas?
Peek a BOO!

Just call me Daredevil.....

I can't believe that I almost forgot to tell you about my adventure last week. While daddy was in the kitchen and mommy was in the living room with me, I decided to play peek a boo with mommy using a blanket. Well I had my head covered and my feet got all tangled up in the blanket while I was walking and I went down on the hardwood floor with a THUD! I hit my chin hard on the floor and bit my tongue in 2! places. They weren't little bites either. I managed to bit through my tongue! It's on the very tip and it sort of looked like I had a snake tongue for awhile. I bled all over mommy and me! All I wanted to do was cuddle with mommy and suck on Eeyore (my pacifier) in the morning. Mommy called Dr.Rezabek's office and the nurse told her that unless it was hanging off, there wasn't much they could do for it except make sure mommy kept cold on it and making sure that I was drinking plenty of fluids.

After my morning nap though......it was a totally different story! I went right back to being a daredevil. I kept wanting to climb on the couch and walk across it...Nothing scares me!

I heard mommy tell daddy that she hopes I don't end up in the ER before I turn 2 since I am such a little daredevil! I've got to keep mommy and daddy on their toes!

I LOVE talking on the phone....

Hi. Plans for Saturday?

That sounds great!

Wait I can't hear you....

I need to tell my puppies to quiet down outside....Ok...much better. Now I can keep an eye on them and talk to you. :)

Look what I can do!

Much to Mommy and Daddy's dismay, look what I have figured out to do. Now if only I could figure out how to get out completely....Hmmmmmm (I didn't push the siderail down all by myself...I waited until mommy and daddy were ready to get me up from my nap)
Hmmm I can't quite get my foot up all the way...

It's too high!!!

There goes the leg....
That floor seems a little far away....

Owwwww my ears...

I went to see Dr. Rezabek today for my 15 month checkup and when he looked in my ears, he realized that I have a DOUBLE ear infection. I haven't been acting any different, so mommy and daddy had no idea that my ears hurt. Dr. Rezabek gave me some antibiotics, but I'm not sure that I like them and I like to spit them out at mommy. Hmmmm............

PS I weigh 29 pounds 9 ounces and am 33 3/4 inches long!! I'm getting so BIG!

Pictures Pictures and More Pictures!

The first taste of a Thin Mint...I'm not sure what I think

Let's try another bite....

I think I like this...

Are there any more in here?

Thought you could hide them from me??

Now I need some milk....

Got any more over there?

Please? (notice the folded hands)

Guess it is time to brush my teeth then.....but I'm not happy about it. I want another cookie!

WOW! I am far behind!

With mommy working on her practicum and school things on the computer, I hardly ever get to get on the computer to update my blog. I'll be happy when mommy is done with school so I can update my blog more often!

I have learned so many new things lately! I LOVE to climb. My favorite thing to climb on is the couch! I think it is so fun to be up there. I have fallen off a few times but I am starting to learn not to get too close to the edge. I have also learned where my head, tongue and toes are and I know where mommy's elbow is too and daddy's eyes. Some of my favorite words are 'dun' (done), dada, mamamama (I like to drag it out), this and that, bye bye and HI. I also know what sounds ducks, lions, puppies and elephants make. Mommy and daddy have taught me how to fold my hands when we say mealtime prayers and when we pray at night. They have been trying to teach me how to fold my hands in church, but those prayers are too long for a little boy to sit still and keep his hands folded.

Oh and I almost forgot! I know how to do flips too. I've been practicing them at the Little Gym. I like to try and practice at home too, but I can't get my feet over my head without some help. But I like to clap for myself when I think I have done it all by myself.

Mommy and Daddy have started brushing my teeth every day. I like having my teeth brushed and sometimes I try and do it all by myself, but the brush is a little hard to hold so I just put it in my mouth and bite on it a few times.

Oh and one of the best things about the last couple weeks....I got to eat my very first girl scout cookie. Mommy and Daddy were eating some Thin Mints and I just had to have one! They are so yummy! Mommy of course took some pictures that will follow.

I think that's about it from this end. The weather is getting nice so mommy and daddy and I are going to be able to go to the ZOO, the park and Grant's Farm again soon. I can't wait to see all the animals!

Later...

I have a secret...can you guess what is it???

Did you guess what my secret is yet???????????

Yes you read that right...I'm going to be a big brother in August!! I'm not really sure what that means yet, but mommy and daddy are really excited so I guess I am too...Of course mommy had to start a blog for Niblet. There isn't much on it yet, but you can read it at http://babybugala.blogspot.com

So busy...so little time...

Being sick is no fun!

I am teething and I have a really bad cold. I have a yucky runny nose and a cough. Mommy even stayed home from her practicum on Monday to take care of me and Daddy stayed home on Tuesday. I'm starting to feel better but now I have decided to wake mommy and daddy up early in the morning. I like climbing in bed with them and cuddling! NOT...instead I like to flip and turn and be a monkey at 5am. Mommy and Daddy do not like that but I have so much fun. :) That's about it from this end...nothing too exciting has been happening since I haven't been feeling good.
They are predicting snow next week, so maybe mommy and daddy will take me for more exciting tobaggan rides. On Thursday mommy and I are going to see Aunt Lisa, Ernie and Meghan and go to a train place. I hope I'm back up to snuff by then. I love playing with Ernie!

Mommy's Night Out

On Friday, mommy had a girls night out while daddy and I had a boys night out! Since mommy had the camera, daddy couldn't take any pictures of us, but mommy made sure to take some! She went to Glazed and Confused with some of her friends. They had a great time. I can't wait to see what mommy made.

My first boggan ride!

We finally had enough snow (2inches) that I could try out my new boggan! Mommy dressed me up all warm and snuggly in my fleece pants, fleece top, fleece sleeper, socks, hat and gloves and it was outside we went. I did not want to keep my gloves on at all! I kept putting my hands in my mouth and pulling them off,but once we were outside, I was glad I had them on. Daddy put in my boggan and we went in circles around our front yard. Of course mommy took lots of pictures. Here's just some of my first boggan ride and some with daddy. I can't wait until it snows again! I had so much fun!!!
